CardioVision
 |
CardioVision is an infarct-avid imaging agent
that localizes specifically in damaged cardiac myocytes.
It is a kit of lyophilized mixture
of Faband F(ab)2 fragments of murine monoclonal antibody to
cardiac myosin, pretinned and reduced for simple, direct, one-step labelling
with the generator eluted sodium pertechnetate Tc-99m. |

CardioVision Principle
of Action
 |
Anti-myosin antibody, designated
3-48, belongs to IgG1k class |
 |
Binds to both a and
b heavy
chains of atrial and ventricular myosin and b-heavy chain of slow skeletal
muscle |
 |
Does not react with non-muscle
myosins or any other human tissues or blood cells |
 |
Does not react with myosin light
chains or fragments of heavy chains circulating in the blood of patients
post-infarction |
 |
Enjoys a remarkable safety
profile |
 |
Has favourable pharmacokinetics
for imaging |

Prognostic
Use of CardioVision
Due to its unique features,
CardioVision can both evaluate the heart function and visualize the
anatomical location and size of infarct.
Since the amount of myocardial
damage and the degree of loss of heart function are strong predictors of future
cardiac events, CardioVision can have prognostic use in the assessment of
degree of myocardial damage in management of patients with Acute Coronary
Syndrome.
CardioVision:
Current State of Knowledge
 |
Marker of necrosis |

High sensitivity &
specificity in detection & localization of infarcts |
 |
Relatively fast clearance |
 |
Easy to prepare |
 |
Safe for repeat injections |
|
 |
Excellent properties for
planar & SPECT imaging |
 |
Suitable for MUGA studies
to evaluate LVEF & wall motion abnormalities |
 |
Can detect islets of
necrosis in UA |
 | In dual isotope imaging with 201Tl
can predict the amount of salvable ischemia in infarcted zone |
